Socialization Training And Reinforcement Program, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. STAR Program services have been provided across San Diego County since 1997.
Social Skills Training Groups
- Socialization training for children diagnosed with ASD
- During after-school hours 2 days per week from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
- Sites across San Diego County
- Groups are offered for different levels of training needs
Behavioral Consultation & Training
- Provided for those with autism and other developmental disabilities
- Available for families, group and day program providers and school districts across San Diego County
- NPA certified by the California Dept. of Education
Transition
- Supported involvement in community-based recreational programs and activities
Research
- Research aimed at providing the most effective intervention approaches to children with ASD
Breathe, Stretch, Relax
STAR Program, Inc. now provides a stress reduction segment in our social skills training groups. This intervention is designed to teach children how to relax their body and mind using yoga, creative movement and breathing techniques so that they can more effectively deal with the social demands around them.
Who provides the services?
- Program Site Managers, Behavioral and NPA consultants possess at least a Master's degree in psychology, education or a related field of study and experience working with children diagnosed with ASD
- Behavioral Aides provide 1:1 and 1:2 staffing support to assist the children with group activities
- All staff receive ongoing training regarding the special needs of children with autism
